The Foundation serves the blind and visually impaired (BVI) community with approximately $600,000 in grantmaking annually and by providing 30,000 people with large print best-selling books, Fiction Favorites Large Type. Orlowski comes to the Foundation after 20 years serving the nonprofit sector in leadership roles.

Orlowski most recently served for ten years as Executive Director of the Worldwide Fistula Fund (WFF), a global maternal health organization. Through deep partnerships in sub-Saharan African countries, WFF combines $550,000 in annual grantmaking with mentorship and leadership training for local partners on the ground. Prior to joining the WFF, Orlowski led a consulting business for nine years serving Chicago area nonprofits with best practice support in board governance, strategic planning, advancement and marketing. Originally working in corporate marketing, she shifted to the nonprofit sector in 2000. Based in suburban Chicago, Orlowski holds an M.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University and a B.S. in Advertising from the University of Illinois.
