The Transitioning to a New World initiative focuses on equipping high school students and young adults with disabilities with skills in advocacy and entrepreneurship. Through engaging workshops, interactive training sessions, and personalized mentoring, participants gain the confidence and resources to excel in education, employment, and beyond.

It’s all about shaping a better future for our kids, ” said Jodhan. ” This initiative gives them the tools they need to become indispensable assets to any organization, while empowering them to advocate for a more inclusive world.

A Catalyst for Change

The initiative began in July 2024, when Donna partnered with the Envisioning Youth Empowerment (EYE) Retreat in North Carolina. Over Zoom, Donna taught advocacy and entrepreneurship courses to more than 30 blind and low-vision young people, sharing actionable insights to prepare them for future challenges. ” I’m deeply grateful to Dr. Alan Chase and the EYE Retreat team for giving me this platform to inspire change, ” Donna remarked.

Empowering Leaders, Breaking Barriers

Participants in the program learn essential skills such as:

  • Self-advocacy and rights awareness.
  • Entrepreneurial thinking and problem-solving.
